We are proud to call Ventura County home, and we’ve made it our mission to help make the community we love so much the very best it can be. Each year, we participate in more than 400 community events, and our employees participate on more than 30 volunteer boards and donate upwards of 750 volunteer hours to local nonprofits.

Here are just a few of the ways we support the Ventura County, California community:
  • The Foundation of VCCU

Over the years, VCCU has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to local nonprofits. To better facilitate our efforts to provide financial assistance and education to our community through charitable giving, we formed The Foundation of Ventura County Credit Union, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, in 2015. The Foundation focuses on helping the underserved, facilitating the beautification and preservation of our environment, and promoting health and well-being. For more information about The Foundation of VCCU, please visit their website, www.tfvccu.org.

  • CommUNITY Giving Program

By nature, VCCU is a philanthropic organization and we have been supporting our community since the beginning.  In most recent years, VCCU has provided over a half million dollars, thousands of pounds of nonperishable food, and school supplies to charitable organizations through our corporate giving and in-branch fundraisers.  In addition, VCCU offers each of our staff members compensation for up to 40 hours per year of volunteer time to get engaged with local nonprofits. We’re honored to have had our employees extend a helping hand to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Foundation, Ventura County Leadership Academy, Center4SpecialNeeds, American Red Cross, Ventura County Animal Shelter and countless other organizations that benefit our community.

  • Financial Education

Financial education is invaluable, and to help bolster financial knowledge throughout our community, VCCU regularly partners with academic institutions, businesses, and other local organizations to host seminars on key topics. These topics include everything from money management and fraud prevention to buying a home, understanding credit scores and beyond. Interested in financial education for your organization? • Hispanic/Immigrant Outreach

Working with organizations such as the Mixteco/Indígena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) and Consulate of Mexico, VCCU developed an outreach program that includes free financial education and services, savings programs, and no-cost checking and savings accounts for our Hispanic communities. VCCU partners with local agricultural companies and community partners to explain the benefits of VCCU membership in person, answer financial questions and provide additional assistance as needed. Due in part to our commitment of serving our immigrant community members, VCCU received the Juntos Avanzamos, “Together We Advance”, designation from the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions in 2017.

  • Community Partnerships

With branch locations in Ventura, Port Hueneme, RiverPark, Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and Simi Valley, and a large network of caring members, VCCU is in a perfect position to support a variety of charitable efforts. To name just a few, we’ve collected canned food and monetary donations on behalf of FOOD Share, hosted school supply drives for School on Wheels, Inc., and helped fundraise and bring awareness for Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation.

  • Chamber Partnerships

VCCU is an active member of many of the chambers of commerce throughout Ventura County and proudly sponsors numerous chamber events and mixers during the course of the year.
