Banking may be our business, but we’re not just a credit union. When we’re not busy helping our neighbors find solutions for personal accounts, business accounts and investing, we’re supporting them through local community events and non-profits. We’re passionate about community involvement, and this drive often takes us well beyond the office doors of our branches in Ventura County.
The Foundation of Ventura County Credit Union
Over the years, VCCU has given back to the community, donating tens of thousands of dollars to local nonprofits such as FOOD Share, School on Wheels, Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation and MICOP (Mixteco Indigena Community Organizing Project).
In 2015, we started the Foundation of Ventura County Credit Union, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) to facilitate our charitable giving. The Foundation exists to provide financial assistance and education to local community partners. Our giving emphasizes:
- The Underserved
- Beautification and Well-Being
- Health & Well-Being
The Foundation is funded by the generous contributions and support from our members and donors. Membership is available to individuals and businesses that share a vested interest in building a stronger community.

Current Community Initiatives
We participate in a wide variety of initiatives throughout the year, including seasonal fundraisers and ongoing volunteer service projects. Our CommUNITY Giving program encourages employees to donate their time to local non-profit agencies by compensating them for up to 40 hours of service per year. In fact, over the past five years, we’ve contributed over a half a million dollars back to the community and in 2015 alone, we’ve donated more than 750 volunteer hours to community non-profits.
Beyond volunteer service, we also give back when it counts the most. In November, we join forces with FOOD Share to collect canned goods for Ventura County’s hungry as part of the Tackle Hunger campaign. We use the money raised to build CAN-Trees at the Collection in Oxnard in early December.
How You Can Get Involved
Our efforts would be nothing without you, our neighbors. Join the movement and help us build a strong Ventura County community! There are several ways to get involved. If you are a local non-profit looking for sponsorship or volunteers, team up with VCCU by filling out our contribution request form. At this time, VCCU does not support political, religious, or athletic organizations. If you are a community member, you can get involved by:
- Becoming a member of The Foundation of Ventura County Credit Union.
- Donating canned, non-perishable goods to your local branch during November
- Donating money from your VCCU account to FOOD Share (a donation of $1 is worth $5 in healthy groceries)
- Keep an eye out for any fundraising events throughout the year
- Joining in the community movement by using the hashtag #thatsmyvc.
