Drive-Thru Shred Event

VCCU members are invited to join us for our next Shred Day event! Bring up to two, medium-sized bags/boxes of personal papers for free, secure shredding and disposal. Please note: proof of registration will be required to attend this member-exclusive event.

To help you prepare for this shred event, please keep the following in mind:

  • You may experience extended wait times. While we are implementing measures to improve our processes, potential delays may occur. We appreciate your understanding.
  • There will be no public restrooms available. Please plan accordingly. We apologize for any inconvenience.
  • Paper shred should be ready to go in boxes/bags, placed in your vehicle’s trunk or hatch, and labeled “SHRED”.
  • Remain in your vehicle. Pop the trunk or hatch (when asked). Your papers will be delivered securely from the truck and shredded on-site.
  • Please do not stop, wait or block the exit after your shred has been taken. This will help alleviate traffic.

Limit two (medium-sized) boxes/bags of personal papers per vehicle

  • Max. box size: (16 x 12 x 12 inches)
  • Two box/bag limit will be strictly enforced
  • Additional containers will not be permitted

Shred Day FAQs

No, our shredding events are a free benefit of membership and open to our members.

Yes, we may ask to see proof of membership. Acceptable forms of proof include: VCCU Member ID, Credit or Debit cards, checkbook or statement.

Note: In order to keep the drive-thru line moving quickly, we will not ask every person to show proof.

No, restrooms will not be available during this shredding event.

Limit 2 (medium-sized) boxes/bags of personal documents. 

Generally, a medium-sized box is about the size of a moving box or the size that copy paper comes in. Approximately 16” W x 12” H x 12” D. A bag is considered a standard paper grocery bag.

No, we cannot store confidential documents for members. Members must be present at the event to benefit from the complimentary shredding service.
Due to facility limitations, at this time we will not be scheduling any shred events at our Thousand Oaks branch.
Your documents remain in your possession/sight until the attendant places them in the bin, at which time they are loaded into the truck and shredded in full view. Shred-it is a long-time trusted vendor whose trained employees adhere to a strict code of ethics.
