Ask Joe
“You say credit unions are more involved with their communities than banks. How is VCCU involved?”

Let me give you some examples: Consider our upcoming Free Shred Days, October 16 at our Ventura office and October 17 in Thousand Oaks. We’ve educated our members about the importance of actively protecting their financial data—and we take it a step further by offering them a way to do it for free.

And for members facing financial obstacles, BALANCE, our free and confidential financial counseling service, is here to help them get back on track.

This summer, VCCU employees, volunteers and members raised over $82,000 in support of Food Share through various fund raising efforts for the Oxnard Salsa Festival. These are just some of the extra steps, both large and small, we take to serve our members specifically, and the local community as a whole.

Here’s the bottom line: As a member-owned financial institution, we’re concerned about your overall financial wellbeing—not just how much you borrow or how big your savings account is. We take pride in being your financial partner, and in being a locally owned, not-for-profit cooperative made up of individuals united to support each other. As this year’s motto for International Credit Union Week says, Credit Unions Unite for Good; A Better Way.

And remember, send your questions to I look forward to hearing from you.
